Childhood friends Jason Carroll and John Burdett reconnected in 2013, and they discovered a shared passion for serving families enduring the trials of distance medical care.

After learning that an average of 30-40 families remain on housing waiting lists every night in Birmingham, the two drafted a business model that would not only provide excellent service and lodging, but would do so in an efficient and scalable manner. They used their own funds to bootstrap the project, yielding the values of accountability and careful stewardship that remain to this day. With a combined focus on compassionate care and systemic planning and implementation, Red Mountain Grace has become one of Birmingham’s fastest growing non-profit organizations.

Since opening its doors in August of 2013, Red Mountain Grace has welcomed over 200 families.  The organization has grown from 2 to 12 apartments, has hired an executive director, and is looking to expand to 15-20 in 2018.
